First opened in the end of the 19th century in Cairo and written by Italian composer Guiseppe Verdi, Egypt, the plot of the opera revolves around the military commander Radames, who has to chose between his love for a captured Ethiopian princess, her name Aïda, or his loyalty to Pharaoh. Produced by Vancouver Opera, it is set to open on April 21, 2012, the opera is staged at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, 630 Hamilton Street, Vancouver, BC.
